We had a super start to 2nd grade! It has been a joy getting to know your sweet children. They have a great class dynamic and I am confident we can accomplish a lot this year! So exciting!
Parent Info Form:
If you missed Meet the Teacher, please complete our Parent Info Form. Click here.
Many thanks to the parents who emailed me a letter letting me know how your child learns best and other helpful info from your perspective as a parent. So helpful! If you have not gotten a chance to write me a letter (via email or snail mail), it's not too late!(: I look forward to hearing from you!
Much of our focus this week was building our classroom community and expectations. We toured our classroom and campus. We practiced our classroom procedures such as Morning Check-in, Morning Meeting, material management, library protocol, etc. We started Writing Workshop, reviewed its rules, and wrote about our favorite things, our summer activities, and a letter to the teacher. We also partnered up to come up with classroom rules and presented them to our classmates. We enjoyed some beginning of the year read alouds such as, "The Teacher From the Black Lagoon." We drew our self-portraits and put together a bar graph of our birthdays!
We learned about having a Growth Mindset! Ask your child all about this very important concept!
We will be talking about our Hopes and Dreams in 2nd grade this upcoming week. Please have a conversation this weekend with your child to help stimulate some thought on this. Thank you!
School Supplies and Field Lesson Donations Campaigns:
Families, this year we will be launching our School Supplies and Field Lesson donations campaigns on a new website. We will be launching this website next week. Many families have asked where they can make their donation, we appreciate your patience while we put the finishing touches on our new site. Look for a link to our new donations site next week!
After-School Live: After-School Live Clubs are back this year, and easier to lead than ever! Earn volunteer hours by leading Explorers in joyful learning experiences after school. Click here for more information, and Click HERE to show your interest. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Free and Reduced Meal Application: Each year, we ask families to complete a Free and Reduced Price School Meals (FRPSM) application. Students received the application, as well as a cover letter in their backpacks on Friday. We need every student to return the letter with a parent signature and the appropriate check-box selected by Friday, August 17th. Even if you choose not to complete the FRPSM application, we still need a letter back for each student so that we can ensure every family had the opportunity to complete the application.
That's all for now! Have a great weekend!
