Welcome to our class and the start of a new school year!
Fresh starts are always so wonderful! It's a chance to try something new, make a new friend, and work on that growth mindset!
We've had a great 2 and half days getting to know each other, our school, and our classroom. We've reviewed our expectations, core values, and procedures. We've learned about the growth mindset and look forward to reflecting upon and identifying our 2nd grade hopes and dreams next week. It's going to be a great year!
Gentle Reminders:
*If you haven't already, please turn in a 4 x 6 or 3 1/2 x 5 summer fun picture that we can display in the classroom for the school year. These will be returned in June. This showcase is meant to be an area we can look to for inspiration in our writing, to keep persevering when we are working, and to remind ourselves of happy times and that we are loved.
*Also, please make sure you have returned the registration packet including the consent forms for technology. This will help us know when and who may get started on our chrome books!
Homework:
I did not send homework home this week. Look for homework next week. We will also have our first Spelling pre-test on Monday. No need to study for this pre-test; I want to get an idea on how the kids do taking a test cold. If your child gets anxious about test-taking, please have a reassuring talk with him/her. I will also preface my pre-test administration with a reminder to approach the pre-test and all challenging tasks with a growth mindset.
Mark your calendars:
Wed. 8/24--> Back to School Night: Hope you can join me in our classroom to get the lowdown on 2nd Grade! Choose 1 of 2 sessions (6:00 - 6:30 pm or 6:35 - 7:05 pm). Parents only, please. Thank you!
That's all for now! Have a wonderful weekend! It's back to the soccer tournament for me!
