Happy almost May! Many thanks to our chaperones who attended the B Street Theatre field trip with us and to all who donated, helped, and attended WCS International Festival! So sorry to miss the Festival for the 1st time in 11 years! My husband and I needed to ready our home for our 50th birthday celebration we hosted that night! Hard to believe that put together, we are a century!
Curriculum Highlights:
We had fun on our field trip to B Street to watch "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" and wrote about our trip when we returned. We reviewed money, data, time, and measurement in Math. We continue to make our way through "Charlotte's Web"--we are so close to being done! We are now doing our Words Their Way work in our homeroom class, working from different lists that match our spelling development. We learned about the Scientific Method and conducted a fun experiment on erosion (and ate it afterwards!). We read "The Great Kapok Tree" and talked about Earth Day, being a good steward of the Earth, and created posters on what that means.
Field Day T-Shirt Money
Blue folders are coming out today (Monday). Please look for an envelope for you to insert $10 cash for your child's Field Day T-shirt which will be ordered soon! Money is due by May 11th! Please return via designated envelope in your child's blue folder. Let me know if you have any questions!
Tri-fold display boards update:
I have received 13 tri-fold display boards from students, which means we are short 9! If you haven't turned in a display board via your child, please do so as soon as possible so your child can work on our trimester project. These can be found at Michael's or Walmart or any office supply store like Staples and Office Depot. Amazon has them as well. Please email me if you need assistance and support from me. If other families are able to donate, that would be wonderful, too! Thank you!
Class Party:
We've earned another class party! One of the things we'd like to do is a Root Beer Float/Science Experiment Station. If you are able to donate cups, vanilla ice cream and scooper (to borrow), root beer, or your time, please email me. More details TBA as we finalize our votes, look at our calendar, and finish class discussion on the party.
May is Bike Month:
Look for this informative flyer in your child's blue folder! Try to ride your bike this month to earn prizes. During Morning Meeting, I will be asking students to honestly report out the number of bike trips they complete daily (10 minutes = 1 trip).
Progress Reports:
Look for 3rd Trimester Progress Reports in this Friday's blue folder! Review, sign, and return 1 copy. Thank you!
