Many thanks to so many of you who gifted our classroom library with books from the book fair! Your kind donations have re-energized our readers! Also, I'd like to thank the families of Chase, Sam, Raelanna, and Helena for providing treats for our "Stuffed animal/squishy, Bey blade, Drawing, and Reading Party"! It was a joy to observe our 2nd grade partygoers interact and play with each other! They truly enjoyed each other's company in each of our party spots (see pictures below.) And for all who donated their time, energy, or money to the success of our Fall Festival--many thanks!! Grateful for Mason T.'s dad for coordinating the gift card collection for our Fall Wreath! And finally, to Mrs. Polanco for all her hard work in transforming our library into such a fun book fair--you are appreciated!
Curriculum Highlights:
In Reading, we continue our Fairy Tale unit as we created Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast "Jack and the Beanstalk" and "Kate and the Beanstalk." In Writing, students took their 1st Trimester Narrative Writing Test on a small moment narrative. In Math, we wrapped up place value and compared numbers using the symbols <, >, and =. I hope to test students on these 2 concepts on Monday or Tuesday. In our "Farm to Fork" unit, we watched a video of a journey of a strawberry from farm to us consumers. We had fun touring the Book Fair! For Red Ribbon Week, we decorated our door with healthy choices and toured the other K-5 doors, making notes on our passports.
I am looking forward to meeting with you the week of November 5th for Parent-Teacher conferences! Can't wait to chat about your 2nd grader, give you their report cards, and show you some of their work!

2nd Grade Healthy Thought for the Week:
In the spirit of Red Ribbon Week, we discussed and decorated our door according to the theme, "Let's Explore...Healthy Choices!" Our class had an abundance of great thoughts such as "Eat a banana," "Exercise," and "Eat the colors of the rainbow." One of my favorites? "Have a kind heart"--Mason S. Now that's food for thought!
That's all for now! Have a great week and a happy and safe Halloween!
