An Attitude of Gratitude

Hi Explorer Families,

Thank you to all for carving out the time to meet with me to discuss your child's progress in 2nd grade. I always find it so gratifying to visit with my partners in education!

It has been a busy few weeks wrapping up the trimester with assessments and lessons. Highlights since I last posted were the Olympic Triathlon where we researched, learned about, and represented the fine South American country of Brazil; and our science experiment on weathering and erosion! The slideshow below captures a glimpse of our excitement and learning!

Wishing you all a wonderful break and hope you enjoy some quality time with your children! I am grateful to have them in my life! Thank you for sharing them with me!

A busy assessment week, punctuated by a class party

Hi Explorer Families!

We had a busy week of Reading, Writing, Language, and Math assessments and our Stuffed Animal/Movie/Popcorn/Pirate Booty/Juice Party was the perfect end to a hard week of work! Thanks to all who made this celebration possible! We had fun introducing our stuffed animal/doll friends at Morning Meeting, writing about them, working alongside them, and watching "Alvin and the Chipmunks--Chipwrecked" with them. [By the way, due to the festivities, we did not get a chance to write in our Friday journals; hope to get an entry in on Monday!]

I was able to hear each explorer read one-on-one and answer comprehension questions orally. I so enjoy these individual "reading dates" and look forward to conferencing with you about your explorer in a couple weeks. Thanks to all who already booked conferences; if you haven't yet, please refer to my previous email. If you need assistance booking your conference or would like me to do it for you, email me and I'd be happy to help!

Thank you:
*To all for your generous and thoughtful canned good contributions! We had 6 grocery bags and 1 box full of items on Friday! Thanks so much for helping families in our community!
*To all for all you do for your kiddos day to day! I know it is a busy time!
