Hope your children had a good respite from school and are recharged to finish Trimester 2 strong! Upon return this week, we will resume our NWEA Language Test which we had to suspend due to a network outage. NWEA makeup testing will also be administered for those who missed our original testing dates.
Curriculum-wise:
*Math--we have started our Money unit! We've identified people who have made a difference on the U.S. coins, identified the value of each, practiced ordering them from greatest to least, and practiced counting on in order to establish a given amount.
*Reading/Social Studies/Writing/Technology--we are focusing on our People Who Make A Difference unit; reading about our own and other people who have made a difference; practicing the format of informative writing; conducting research and gathering facts online and in our biography books, and working through the writing process so that we are able to publish via a google document. Please support your researcher by making sure they are on track with their reading, research, and writing (done primarily in class) and helping them assemble a costume of their famous person for March 15th's Living Museum Showcase. They may also need some assistance in memorizing their published autobiography.
*Language/Spelling--we continue to review language daily, with a recent focus on root words, prefixes, suffixes and dictionary usage.
Mark your calendars:
*Tuesday, March 15th--Living Museum Showcase from 9:00 am - 9:45 am in the Cafeteria--Come see history come alive as our 2nd graders (Mrs. Wilson's, Mrs. Wright's, and our classes) present to you "People Who Make A Difference."
"The mountains are calling and I must go."--John Muir
That's all for now! Looking forward to seeing your children on Monday!
