Blue Communication Folders--MIA!
Several blue weekly communication folders are not making their way back to us on a regular basis! And so, papers have been going home in substitute folders or completely "unfoldered" lately! Please look around your home for these. If you absolutely cannot find them (perhaps they are disappearing in some unknown void where those socks go!), take heart! Simply re-use the gray folders I will be giving you with your child's conference items in them this week!
Curriculum Highlights:
* In Reading, we compared and contrasted The 3 Little Pigs and The 3 Little Wolves and the Big, Bad Pig. We also reviewed the reflection strategy of Summarizing and learned about the strategy of Wondering. We practiced this latter strategy with "Room on the Broom," a short video based on the book by the same title. We also talked about the characters, setting, and lesson of this story.
* In Writing, we practiced using our Narrative Rubrics. In Spelling, we resumed our WTW spelling tasks.
* In Math, we are practicing triple digit addition without regrouping and will look at different strategies to solve.
* We also read a passage, "At Play: Life Long Ago," comparing and contrasting how we have fun now and how fun was had a couple generations ago. We created a T-chart independently to show at least 3 examples of how life long ago was different than today.
*We enjoyed our Big Buddy time on Friday! Ms. Brunnmeier's 5th graders helped us write an original fairy tale or other short story. We are great collaborators!

2nd Grade Shout-Out
Thank you to Amir who saved the day when our you-tube video of "Room on the Broom" was glitching. He advised, "I know what the problem is! You probably have too many tabs open! You need to close the other tabs!" He was right! So proud of his techie problem-solving that saved my lesson plan!
That's all for now! See you soon!
