Happy Veterans Day Weekend! I'd like to dedicate this newsletter to all the courageous men and women who have sacrificed to serve our country and ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all!
I look forward to meeting with parents this week during our parent-teacher conference time. Our time is limited to a precious 20 minutes, so please be prompt so we can maximize our chat together. I look forward to visiting with you and collaborating on your child's progress in 2nd grade thus far!
Many thanks:
*To Joaquin's dad, Mr. Pablo, for coming in to share pictures and stories about his beloved Ecuador. What we learned inspired the creation of our Olympic Triathlon flag!
*To our field trip chaperones: Audrey's dad, Nathan's mom, Aiden's mom, Scarlett's mom, and Alena's mom for keeping our students safe to enjoy a great show!
*To our room moms, Emmy's and Emma's moms, who are on the ready to jump in and help in class or with wish list items!
*To all of you wonderful parents for supporting your 2nd grader this trimester in so many countless ways! Parenthood is a labor of love!
Curriculum Highlights: The past couple weeks have been chock full of assessments as we wrap up Trimester 1. We savored our hard earned stuffed animal/board game/blanket class party. We enjoyed learning about Ecuador, field tripping to Cinderella, and participating in the Olympic Triathlon Event--celebrating Westlake's Art, Spanish, and PE! So fortunate are we!
Holidays Around the World is coming soon! If you have a special family holiday tradition/activity/craft that you would like to share with our class, I would love to talk to you about it!
Math Monday: Click HERE for Math Monday.
Picture Retake Day: Picture Retake Day is Thursday, November 17th
2nd Grade Quote of the Week: I am assessing students one-on-one to hear their oral reading fluency. I am timing Justus with my iPhone and standing up from the table, I drop it accidentally, shattering the glass screen. Justus reacts with excited empathy, "Oh no! Don't worry! I have a couple dollars at home! I'll give it to you!"
Remember--Minimum Days this week for conferences (so every day is Wednesday)! See you soon!
