Progress reports went home in blue folders yesterday. Please review and sign and return 1 copy. Email me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your ongoing support!
Many students need practice on their math fact fluency. At home, you can access Front Row, Fact Dash, and That's a Fact from our Resources page for practice. Also, use our Resources page to practice Language Arts, such as Reading and Spelling.
More reading at home support options: I have re-activated my Scholastic book club account for those of you who would like to order "real books" (at a real good price!) for your child. This link can be found on our Resources page and by clicking here. Our class code is QGHGX or you can search for our school and my name.
I will also be sending out in blue folders Highlights magazine (www.highlights.com) subscriptions for those of you who are interested. I grew up on this educational magazine myself and it has a great variety of reading genres and activities!
Fall Festival shout out: Thank you to our room moms, Melinda and Apple, and all of you for your contributions to our grade level booth and our class basket so far!
Curriculum Highlights:
*Reading and Language Arts--we continue our study of narratives and will be transitioning into Fairy Tales and Fables
*Writing--We talked about the elements of a friendly letter and received a shared pen pal letter from Mrs. Boone's 2nd Grade Class from Hight Elementary! We will be taking a look at our narrative rubric.
*Math--We are wrapping up subtraction strategies and re-visiting related facts and fact families
*Tech--We received our new tech passwords and explored our Resources Page and 2nd grade Splash page. Specifically, we took a look at Front Row--Math and ELA (English Language Arts).
*Science--We continue our study of Matter and will soon be talking about ecology.
Parents Go Back to School Night is Wednesday; flyers went home in blue folders!
2nd Grade Note of the Week:
It is after school and I finally sit at my desk to catch my breath after a day on my feet. I discover amongst my piles of books and papers a note from Scarlett: "You are the nicest teacher I've ever met. I don't know what to write but this. It is so much fun being part of your class. Bye." So sweet!
Have a wonderful weekend and week!
