I hope you all had a wonderful winter break! It seems like ages since I've seen your kiddos! I trust you enjoyed some fun and down time with them! I sure loved being with mine and catching up with some long-neglected friends (and laundry!)! I am looking forward to seeing the 2nd graders on Monday and hearing about their favorite parts of break!
To begin, I wanted to thank you for the treats, presents, cards, wishes, volunteer time, class donations, home support, and the gifts that are your children! I am truly humbled and grateful for it all!
Also, I wanted to wish Dillon and his family all the best as they travel eastward and start a new chapter in their family life as new residents of Boise, Idaho! Before break, we talked about Dillon's move and we each wrote him a farewell letter that I compiled in a book for him as he starts anew. We will miss his wit, charm, insights, friendship, and artistic ability. I will especially miss his sweet daily good-byes to me at dismissal time, where he would head towards the door, turn around, and say "Good-bye, Mrs. Acquisto. Thank you!" Warmest Wishes to Dillon and his family! [If you would like Dillon's family email to keep in touch or wish them well, please email me and I will pass it on to you!]
As we transition back into school mode, we will be reviewing our Community Agreements and class procedures and expectations. We will be talking about our 2018 resolutions and goals and continuing our research on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will be diving into researching our chosen Difference Maker as we prepare for Our Living Museum Showcase on February 7th from 9:00 - 9:45 am. [Parents, please help your child secure a written text they can take notes from in class and assemble a costume they can don on February 7th that will help them channel their difference maker!(: Please email me, if you need assistance with this.]
We will also be continuing Place Value and triple digit addition/subtraction with and without regrouping in Math and examining word problem strategies. Hopefully we haven't forgotten too much over the break!
Our NWEA testing schedule is as follows:
