Curriculum Highlights:
We made it through our first round of NWEA tests! In contrast to kindergarten and first grade testing, this testing required students to read each problem on their own and in addition to Reading and Math, they were tested in Language as well. In Writing Workshop, students practiced writing their own narratives, inspired by the wordless book, "Chalk." They will be finishing up their stories next week. In Math, we took a chapter pre-test on addition vocabulary, story problems, and equations. We read and talked about "Being Respectful", designed partner posters on how we show respect, and presented them to our little buddies in Mrs. People's class!
School-wide News:
Picture Day: Fall Picture Day is Monday, September 17th. This will be a uniform picture day, not free dress. Click HERE to purchase online.
Chili Cook Off: Our 6th annual Chili Cook Off is coming up! This incredible event will take place on September 26th at 6:00 PM.
- 6th-8th Grade - Click HERE to volunteer or donate for the event. Team up with your advisory teacher to take on other classes head to head for the best chili at our Chili Cook Off! We are asking for help with expert chili chefs, decorators, and servers!
- Kinder-5th Grade - Click HERE to sign up. This year we are inviting our Kindergarten through fifth-grade families to join the event by contributing dessert and drink donations. We would love to see at least 5 desserts and 5 drinks donated per grade level. Desserts are best donated in individual wrappings (ie brownies versus a whole cake). Drinks are best as 2 liters or 12 oz cans.
2nd Grade Joke of the Week:
We are sitting in our Closing Pentagon and students are taking turns sharing jokes and riddles. Here's Joseph's:
"What do you say to someone who has someone else's cheese?"
"What?"
"Nacho Cheese!"
That's all for now! Have a great weekend and week!
