Many thanks to all who donated items or their time to make Friday's class party a success! The second graders have worked so hard the past couple months in earning this class party and I think they really enjoyed it! I sure appreciate the help from Conrad's family and Lailah's, Max's, and Cameron's moms in manning the Root Beer Float Station (Science-Matter), the 2-D and 3-D Geometry Station (Math), the Oobleck Station (Science-Matter), and the Decorate and Fill a Goodie Bag Station (Art and treats). I could not have accomplished so much hidden teaching without you! Shout outs also to the families of Conrad, Maddy, Cameron, Liliana, and Davin for their supply and treat donations! Thank you!
Curriculum Highlights:
We have been hard at work finishing our endangered animal research and trifold presentations. In Language, we continue our poetry unit and have learned about cinquains, acrostic poems, and haikus so far. In Math, we identified the characteristics and names of 3-D geometric shapes. We took notes on the forest ecosystem. I launched our Science study on the three types of Matter by reading Dr. Seuss' "Barholomew and the Oobleck." We will continue to talk about the properties of solids, liquids, and gases this week.
We are organizing our learning to present at Open House this Wednesday! Hope you can join us in celebrating our accomplishments!
