Hi 2nd Grade Explorer Families,
Thank you for attending our Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences this past week. We had 100% attendance for our families in our class. I sure appreciate your support of your 2nd grader; it truly matters! Let's keep the communication going as we work together in 3rd Trimester!
Curriculum Highlights:
The biggest news of the week was students made wallets for their classroom money and created and stocked a class store which opened on Friday during Fun Friday time! Some students brought in purchased items, while others created drawings, origami, and show-and-tell certificates! We have 3 store managers, 3 cashiers, a security guard, and 2 bankers on staff and hope to rotate through the jobs so all have a turn! It's a great way to learn about money! We will continue our class money project while we move on to data, time, measurement, and geometry in Math.
Guest Teachers on Monday and Wednesday:
Due to family obligations, I will be out on Monday (tomorrow) and Wednesday. Lessons have been planned and I know that our 2nd graders will stay true to our Community Agreements and our Core Values in my absence. Some may need some gentle reminders. Thanks for your support! (:

2nd Grade Quote of the Week:
I pull a small group of students that includes Alyson and Maddy to practice student-led conferences. They are figuring out their "Glows" (things they are good at) and their "Grows" (things they need to work on). Alyson remarks, "I'm going to put down 'Work on my Spelling' as one of my 'Grows'." She pauses and asks Maddy, "How do you spell 'Spelling'?" Maddy remarks, "Wow, Alyson, you really do need to work on your spelling! That's a good 'grow' for you!"
That's all for now! Have a great week!
