It has been a long, short week!
First of all, many thanks to all for encouraging and supporting your 2nd grader through our "People Who Made A Difference" Living Museum project. I am so proud of each and every one of them. It was a long, arduous process that challenged them all and they truly rose to the occasion!
Next, thank you for attending your 2nd grader's student-led conference. It was a joy to see students take ownership of their work, articulate their goals, and share these aloud with you. I sure appreciate your partnership in guiding your 2nd grader to their next steps.
...which brings me to informing you that NWEA testing is here once again! I will be testing students this upcoming week (3/21-3/24) and the week following for makeups (3/28-3/21). Many of the 2nd graders expressed a desire to be tested in the afternoon and so I am planning on having at least 2 of the 3 subtests administered at 1:00 pm--aiming for Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Friday. Depending on how students are doing, I may include a Wednesday 10:30 am testing session as well. Please make sure your child is well-rested, has some snacks, and a water bottle. Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you!
Curriculum Highlights: Math--we reviewed 4 ways to express a number (number form, expanded form, word form, and base 10 form) and practiced our math facts. Reading/Language Arts--we read a non-fiction and a fiction book on St. Patrick's Day, wrote to our Pen Pals, and rotated through Daily 5 which included a station on geography work with partners. We successfully performed in our Living Museum to raving reviews!
Second Grade International Festival Basket Message from Paula--
