I am finding this class so endearing! Such kind hearts and sincere souls! Thanks for sharing your kiddos with me!
Thank you:
*To Emmeline's mom, Melinda, and Emma's mom, Apple, for volunteering to be our co-room parents! So appreciate your willingness to help keep our families connected to our class and school activities!
*To Aaron's mom for her out of class help and Joaquin's mom for her in class help and inspiration! Sure appreciate your time this week! Speaking of which...
Volunteers:
*As I'd mentioned at Back to School Night, emailing me whenever free time comes up to come in or help from home works well! If you can come in on a regular basis, let me know, too. An extra adult is especially helpful during workshop activities! You can also fill out this form, located on our BTSN page. Thank you!
Curriculum Highlights:
*Daily 5--We completed a whole week of Daily 5 rotations! Students did a fine job staying on task with their particular ELA activity and I got to listen to each student read to me! I can't wait to see them grow as readers and writers this year!
*Math--We are discussing addition strategies such as power punches, number lines, counting on, and double facts. We will be learning about more next week. We also took our first timed addition test. We will be starting Math workshops next week!
*Writing--We took our narrative writing pre-test and will start learning about elements of narrative writing. We are also being assessed on our 100% words for writing.
*Science-- In partnerships, we concept mapped "what a scientist is". We also came up with questions and interviewed Joaquin's mom who is a medical doctor--a wonderful example of a female scientist!
*Core Value of the Month--Respect: We have been contrasting Respect with Disrespect and reflecting on what each looks like and sounds like in different school scenarios.
