In the next couple weeks, we will be wrapping up 2nd Trimester which means we are in an assessment window. I will be testing students in phonics, reading fluency, and comprehension; math facts (timed) and concepts; language and grammar; 100% Words; and literary and technological application to research when writing to a prompt to produce an informational paragraph. Please make sure your child is well rested, nourished, and in class. Thank you for your support!
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Click here to set up your parent-teacher conference with me. The password is explorers. The portal will be open Monday, February 29th through Sunday, March 13th. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's 2nd Trimester accomplishments!
Thank you to: Ella, Gigi, Aidan H., Dylan, Alexis for your service as 1st Session Conflict Managers. We appreciate your work in keeping our playground safe and respectful!
Congratulations to: Brandon, Tiffany, Roxanne, Ahmed, and Yarethzy for being our 2nd Session Conflict Managers. See you at Wednesday's training after school (with parents' permission--see blue folders)!
Curriculum Highlights:
*Completed NWEA tests! Yay!
*Buddy time with Ms. Prokop's class--we had a lesson on how to draw a portrait and the first graders drew our portraits! (:
*Reading/Language Arts/Technology/Social Studies--we continue with our "People Who Make A Difference" unit and working to publish and memorize our famous person autobiographies in preparation for our March 15th Living Museum Showcase @ 9:00 am in the Cafeteria. We also finished viewing the movie, "Mr. Popper's Penguins" and created Venn Diagrams comparing and contrasting the book with the movie.
*Math--we took our Trimester Math assessment test and continue to work on Money. We each have our own "wallets" and are earning (play) money for good choices in and out of class. We are practicing counting our money and students would like to open a classroom store that we can spend our money on!
Wish List:
*Items for our classroom store! (See above)
*Copy paper
*Wide ruled binder paper
A Note from the Parents Go To School Night Team:
Please join us for "Parents Go to School Night" on the Del Paso campus on Thursday, March 3rd from 5:45-8:00 p.m. to learn more about supporting your child's learning at WCS! You don't want to miss out on our keynote speaker, Kristen Baisden, school psychologist for the Roseville City School District and facilitator for Becoming a Love and Logic Parent®. This will be followed by fantastic staff-led sessions about topics of interest to all of our families. Our teachers will be presenting ideas for encouraging all WCS students from our littlest explorers to our middle school students! BASE will be open for the evening. See you there!
