I am so proud of the perseverance I witnessed this week in your children as they took their NWEA Math, Reading, and Language Tests. The testing experience is a huge jump from First Grade in that the test is not read to them; they must independently read each item on their own. It truly is a test of not only academic knowledge, but also stamina, focus, and intestinal fortitude. They were super heroes! I will be discussing their results with you at our first Parent-Teacher conference in November.
Thank you:
*Many thanks to all who turned in their Student/Parent Info forms; they are helpful for me to get a further glimpse into your child from your perspective. I've read them all and feel enlightened!
*Thanks to Saanvi's mom for taking home some fact tests to correct and to Davin's family for the wipes for our classroom. They will be well used!
*Thank you to Dillon's mom for helping with refreshments for Grandparents Day. If you would like to help, please email me.
Wish List:
*Easy to eat fruit for Grandparents Day (To be brought in on Wednesday morning--email if you plan on doing this)
Grandparents Day is Wednesday!
According to our sign up list, we have 3 grandparents joining us: Ethan's, Lyla's, and Scarlett's grandmothers. We are looking forward to hosting them in our classroom from 8:30 -10:00 am and so excited to spend some time with them! They will be joining us in Morning Meeting, responding to questions about life long ago, and hearing us sing! If your explorer would like to practice their singing, click here.
Gentle Reminder: Still awaiting a few Crocker Art Field Trip Permission Slips and Family Photos. Thank you to those who have turned them in!
Website Resources: (all on our Resources page here for practice and enrichment)
* Front Row has been updated with this year's class roster! Our class code is: acquid
* Raz-Kids is also now available. Teacher code: macquisto1
Student password is the same one they have for their chromebooks.
* Spelling City--students have been studying our 100% words for writing by playing spelling games on this site. This will also house the spelling lists for Words Their Way, the spelling program we have decided to adopt this year in 2nd grade, to be launched September 25th.
Chili Cook Off
Our 5th annual Chili Cook Off is coming up! This incredible event will take place on September 20th at 6 PM here on our beautiful new campus. This year we are inviting our Kindergarten through fifth-grade families to join the event by contributing dessert and drink donations. We would love to see at least 5 desserts and 5 drinks donated per grade level. Desserts are best donated in individual wrappings (ie brownies versus a whole cake). Drinks are best as 2 liters or 12 oz cans. Click here to sign up.
After School LIVE:
After-School Live is launching the fall session Monday, September 18. If your Explorer would like to join a club, please Click HERE to fill out the interest form by Monday, September 11th at 8:00pm. Details about how clubs will be filled are on the form. Email [email protected] with any questions.
That's all for now!
Have a wonderful weekend!
