We are having a bit of Spring Fever as we look towards the horizon that is Spring Break!
Despite that, we do have moments of greatness! Throughout the week, I surveyed the room and beheld soon-to-be
3rd graders working with great purpose, focus, cooperation, and independence! Their kindness and thoughtfulness towards each other also has grown. There is definitely an awareness that we belong to one community.

Curriculum Highlights:
We have finished Chapter 12 in "Charlotte's Web" and are practicing responding to comprehension questions in complete sentences by using key words in the question stem. We reviewed the elements of Narrative Writing and Informational Writing and took a pre-test on Opinion Writing. We learned about the elements of Opinion Writing and will spend the next few weeks practicing this genre of writing. [Ask your children what "a triple stuffed OREO" is.] In Math, we continue to practice our money, time, and data concepts and corrected our errors on these pre-tests. Our class store is going strong--many thanks to your donations in keeping our inventory going! We are wrapping up our Landforms/Bodies of Water/Erosion unit and will be starting our Biodiversity unit soon.

2nd Grade Kindness of the Week:
Eshaan, a 2nd grader in Ms. Furden's class who I gave class money to for working quietly in our class, visits our class store after school yesterday. He uses his class money to purchase 1 candy for him and 1 pom pom for his friend which together costs $6.00. He gives me $50 and expects $44 in change. I am short on dollar bills and I ask him if he would like to donate $4 to charity. He readily responds, "Sure! Just give me $40. Thanks!"
Have a great weekend and week!
