We are too excited about our Living Museum Showcase this Wednesday from 9:00 am - 9:45 am in the 2nd Grade Neighborhood! Remember to have your child come to school in their costume for this early dismissal Wednesday.
Hope you can join us! I realize some parents will be unable to attend due to work obligations. I am looking for some parent volunteers who would be willing to take pictures of each of our "exhibits" and/or possibly film them so we can capture the event and share with all! Please email me if you are able to do this great act of kindness!
Curriculum Highlights:
We sketched our costume plan and some of us did some extension activities such as drawing portraits of our Difference Maker and creating Google Docs and Google Slides on them. We also rehearsed our Living Museum speeches in partnerships and gave each other helpful feedback. We are ready to go! Please do a few run-throughs at home to settle the butterflies!
In Math, we continue to review triple digit subtraction with regrouping. We also took our very first Performance Task, which is a math challenge that gives students the chance to show their ability to interpret math data, compare numbers, estimate, and explain their thinking.
We had our first official Fun Friday! During the last half hour of the day, students chose to draw, work on their chrome books, or play board games with each other. We will have these periodically when we put in a hard week of work!
Love is in the air!
Valentine's Day (February 14th) is fast approaching and we are 1 class point away from a class party! Hope we earn it--stay tuned! Also, I will be sending home a secret parent assignment this week that will be due on February 9th! Be on the look-out!
School-wide news:
Six Flags Read To Succeed: K-6 Grade students and families--there is just under one month left to get the 6 hours of reading completed for the FREE ticket to Six Flags! Simply record titles on this log, fill out the log completely, and return it by the deadline of February 26th (since the 23rd is during Westlake's week off in February). The logs will be picked up on Monday, February 26th. Logs can also be scanned and emailed to Holly Hein at [email protected]. Thanks! Happy Reading!
That's all for now! Have a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday and Week!
