It has been a busy, productive week! The 2nd graders have been hard at work preparing for our Living Museum Showcase on Wednesday, February 7th from 9:00 am - 9:45 am in the 2nd grade neighborhood.
In your child's blue folder, please find a copy of your child's published Difference Maker speech. (A few of us are in the rough draft step or revised/edited draft step.) Most of us have memorized our speeches already; please use this copy to practice and fine tune at home! We will continue to have some work time at school as well. Also, please be ready to costume your child as his/her difference maker. They will wear their costumes to school in lieu of their uniform on February 7th. So exciting! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns or if I can help in any way!
Other Class News:
*This week we welcomed our 6th grade teacher's aide, Ms. Sahara, to our community! She will be helping us the last half our of our day for 6 weeks. (Interestingly, Sahara was in my reading group when she was in 1st grade!) She is a wonderful, bright explorer who is doing a great job connecting with our 2nd graders!
*Today (Saturday) I attended UCDavis Math Project Series #3: "Engaging Students in Thinking and Reasoning Mathematically." It was a joy to collaborate and learn from K-2 teachers from all over the region. I am so excited to try out some of the ideas and concepts in our upcoming Math lessons!
Curriculum Highlights:

*Sharing our work thus far with our Big Buddies and Mrs. Battin
