Hope you had a nice Fall Break! In this window of time before Winter Break, we are traveling our world to explore interesting facts, topography, and traditions. We launched our Travel unit in Mrs. Wright's room, traveling by virtual airplane to visit Papua New Guinea, China, Russia, Brazil, and Egypt--countries covering 6 of our 7 continents!
We recalled our knowledge on Antarctica (our 7th continent!) from first grade. Roxanne and Tiffany shared their expertise on Hanukkah and Chinese New Year. Please chat with your 2nd grader about your family's culture, customs, and traditions. We will be discussing them and doing an activity next week. Looking forward to learning about our fellow Citizens of the World.
In addition to our Travel Unit where we dig deep into the aforementioned countries by journeying to each 2nd grade classroom, we will be participating in Wednesday's "Holidays Around the World" where we will be learning about different winter traditions around the globe.

2nd Grade Sweet Note of the Week:
Unfortunately, Friday morning after PE, Ms. Connelly reported that our class received a 0 out of 3 due to lack of active listening and staying on task. After expressing my disappointment, the class apologized to Ms. C and I led them silently to our classroom to begin check in and morning work. As they were working extra quietly and productively, I glanced at the whiteboard where I saw in Zaed's neat writing these words: "Sorry Mrs. A. I will try harder next time" next to several like messages. Such a good growth mindset!
Have a great week,
Mrs. A
