Blue Folder Check:
As we near the end of the year, there is much to wrap up but still to do! First off, please make sure you take a look at your child's blue folder this weekend. In it, you will find lots of important items such as your student's progress report, latest NWEA and math test, and next year's Welcome Back packet for the 2018-2019 school year. For the progress report, review and sign and return 1 copy via your child's blue folder. Thanks so much!
Class Party:
Our hard-earned class party will be during Fun Friday Time on Friday, May 18th from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Many thanks to Conrad's mom for donating the vanilla ice cream for our root beer floats experiment! If any one is able to donate a class set of red plastic cups and/or a couple of liters of root beer, or their time, please email me. Thanks so much!

Curriculum Highlights:
In Reading we finished "Charlotte's Web" and celebrated with watching the 1973 cartoon movie version of the story. We described the main characters with adjectives and will be using this info in some opinion writing on which character would you choose to be your best friend. In Math we took our Measurement test and did a quizziz pre-test on our final unit, Geometry! We started our Biodiversity unit and discussed the interdependence of living things. We made collaborative posters of support for our Big Buddies taking the CAASP test this week and enjoyed a tech lesson by our guest teacher, Mrs. Block.
School-wide News:
CAASPP Testing: Westlake Charter School’s 2018 CAASPP testing window for 3rd – 8th grade students begins on Monday, May 7th. Please make sure your student is at school and on time each day of testing. Students will test Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. Click HERE for our 2018 CAASPP Parent Notification Letter for information about CAASPP testing. If you have any questions regarding testing please contact [email protected].
Welcome Back Packets: In order have a smoother start to the 2018-19 school year, we have moved our “Welcome Back Packet” to the spring! Packets went home with students this week. We are asking families to return them by Open House on Wednesday, May 23rd. If students do not plan to return to Westlake Charter for the 2018–19 school year, they will request a “Student Disenrollment” form from their teacher. Ms. Thalia can provide you with disenrollment forms.
Yearbook Orders: Click HERE to order your 2017-18 yearbook on the supply donation page. The cost is $20. We have a limited quantity so don’t delay in placing your order – orders will only be filled while supplies last. Yearbooks will be delivered in June.
That's all for now! Have a great weekend and week!
